Stopping distances are increased when transporting heavy equipment. Increased stopping distance can lead to an accident and personal injury. Depressing the service brake pedal applies equal torque to both drive wheels. When you increase the pedal effort, you increase the torque.The service brakes are hydraulically power assisted and the service brakes are self-adjusting. The hydraulic assist only functions when the engine is running. When the engine is off, the brakes will still function. However, more pedal effort is required. Use the parking brake and the service brakes in order to stop the machine when the engine is not running.Periodically test the brake pedal in order to make sure that the manual brake system is functioning.Never rest a foot on the brake pedal. When you keep the pedal partially engaged, you may cause unnecessary wear on the brakes.
