Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the radiator guard, the radiator and the oil coolers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator Guard, Radiator and Oil Coolers - Remove".

Note: The radiator and the fan are removed for the purpose of the picture.
Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Use a suitable wrench in Position (X) in order to release the tension on the V-belts. Remove the V-belts from belt tightener pulley (6) .
Remove the springs (4) from bracket (5) by rotating the belt tightener assembly (6) with a suitable wrench in Position (X) .
Remove the clevis pins (1) and the washers from the arm in order to release the springs.
Disconnect the lubrication tube (not shown) from the back of the belt tightener.
Remove bolt (2) and retainer plate (3) that secures belt tightener (6) to the mounting shaft.
Use two persons to remove belt tightener (6) from the engine. The weight of the belt tightener is approximately 30 kg (66 lb).
Check the bushing assembly for wear or for damage. If necessary, replace the bushing assembly.
