Remove the front housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Housing (Front) - Remove".
Remove the engine oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pump - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Use the Tooling (A) to remove the crankshaft gear (1) from the crankshaft (3). Refer to illustration 1.
Remove the key (2) from the crankshaft. Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Heat the crankshaft gear in an oven to 200 °C (392 °F).
Install the key (2) in the crankshaft (3). Install the crankshaft gear (1). Note: The shoulder of the crankshaft gear must be installed toward the front of the crankshaft.End By:
Install the engine oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pump - Install".
Install the front housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Housing (Front) - Install".
