Personal injury or death can result from escaping fluid under pressure.Escaping fluid under pressure, even a very small pin-hole size leak, can penetrate body tissue and cause serious injury and possible death. If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated immediately by a doctor familiar with this type of injury.Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Move the steering frame lock into the locked position.
The secondary steering relief valve (4) is located in the secondary control valve (3) .
Remove the relief valve (4) from the secondary steering control valve (3). The relief valve should be bench tested. Insert a plug into the opening in order to prevent debris from entering the steering control valve.
The correct pressure of the relief valve is 20950 345 kPa (3050 50 psi).Note: If the pressure was not correct, the relief valve needs adjusted. Proceed to Step 5 for the adjustment procedure.

Locknut (5). Adjustment screw (6) .
Loosen locknut (5) that is located on relief valve (4). Turn adjustment screw (6) clockwise in order to increase the pressure of the relief valve. Turn adjustment screw (6) counterclockwise in order to decrease the pressure of the relief valve.
Install the relief valve for the secondary steering system when the correct pressure setting is reached. Tighten the relief valve to 70 15 N m (51 11 lb ft).
