A 9S-9082 Engine Turning Tool 1 Start By:
Remove the cylinder head.
Remove the engine oil pump.
Remove the piston cooling jets.
Remove the carbon ridge from the top inside surface of the cylinder liner.
Use Tooling (A) and turn the crankshaft until two pistons are at the bottom center.

Remove bolts (1) and the bearing caps. Push the connecting rods and pistons until the piston rings are out of the cylinder liners. Note: Be careful not to damage the cylinder liners and/or the crankshaft journals during the removal of the pistons and the connecting rods.

Remove pistons (2) and connecting rods from the cylinder liners.
Repeat Steps 1 through 4 in order to remove the remainder of the pistons and connecting rods. Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Apply clean engine oil to the cylinder liner bore, to the piston rings, and to the outer surface of the piston. Note: Be careful not to damage the cylinder liners and/or the crankshaft journals during the installation of the pistons and the connecting rods.
Use Tooling (B) to install piston (2) and the connecting rod in the cylinder liner.

Typical Example of 8 and 12 Cylinder Engines
The connecting rod and the piston must be installed in the engine with Surface (X) toward the crankshaft main bearing journal. Surface (Y) must be toward the connecting rod. Note: Surface (X) is thicker than Surface (Y).Note: Surface (X) is chamfered in order to fit the crankshaft.
Make sure that the piston crown, the piston skirt, and the piston rod are properly aligned for the clearance required by oil jet tube (3). Doing so will prevent major engine failure. Refer to Specifications, "Connecting Rod" and Specifications, "Piston and Rings". Note: The markings on the connecting rod need to face the side of the cooling jet.

Install bolts (1) and the bearing caps. Refer to Specifications, "Connecting Rod" for the correct tightening procedure. End By:
Install the piston cooling jets.
Install the engine oil pump.
Install the cylinder head.
