At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the hydraulic system before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system as follows:a. Shut off the engine.b. Move the control levers through their full travel strokes. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the pilot system.c. Slowly loosen the air breather cap on the hydraulic oil tank to release the pressure.d. Tighten the air breather cap on the hydraulic oil tank.e. The pressure in the hydraulic system has now been released. Lines and components can now be removed. 1. Remove toggle lock nut (6), pin (5) and parking brake control (4). Disconnect linkage (2), remove bolts (3) and liver bracket (1). 2. Disconnect two wires (7). 3. Disconnect hose assemblies (9). Remove bolts (8) and remove winch control valve. Install in the reverse order. Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level. Start By:a. Remove winch control valve 1. Loosen nut and bolt (2) on handle and remove handle (1) from shaft. 2. Remove four bolts (3), cover (4) and gasket from housing assembly (5). 3. Remove bolts (7) and brake cylinder assembly (6) from housing. 4. Remove lockring (8), piston (14), cup (9), spring assembly (10) and washer (11) from brake cylinder (12). Remove gasket (13) from cylinder. 5. Remove bolts and the clutch cylinder assembly (15) from housing. 6. Remove lockring (20), piston (19), washer (22), cup (18) and spring assembly (17) from the clutch cylinder housing (21). Remove gasket (16). 7. Loosen setscrew (23) in arm assembly and remove shaft (24) from arm. Remove arm assembly (25) from housing. 8. Remove O-ring seal (29) from shaft. To remove rods (26) or (28) remove pins (27) from arm. The clutch rod (28) is longer than the brake rod (26).9. Removal of the bearings from the housing is necessary only if they are damaged.Assemble Winch Control Valve
1. If the bearings were removed from the housing, lower the bearing temperatures and install the rear bearing to the bottom of the housing counterbore. The front bearing (1) is installed even with the edge of the housing.2. Put the clutch rod (3) and the brake rod (2) in their respective positions on the arm and install pins (4).3. Inspect the O-ring seal (6) and make a replacement if necessary. Install seal (6) on shaft (5).4. Put the arm assembly in position in housing and install shaft. Tighten the setscrew in the arm assembly. 5. Install gasket (7) on the clutch cylinder housing. Put spring assembly (8), cup (9), washer (13), piston (10) and lockring (11) in position in the cylinder housing (12). 6. Put clutch cylinder assembly (14) and warning plate in position on the housing assembly and install bolts. Tighten bolts to a torque of 13
