All lead-acid batteries contain sulfuric acid which can burn the skin and clothing. Always wear a face shield and protective clothing when working on or near batteries.
Batteries give off combustible gases which can explode. A spark can cause the combustible gases to ignite. This can result in severe personal injury or death.Ensure proper ventilation for batteries that are in an enclosure. Follow the proper procedures in order to help prevent electrical arcs and/or sparks near batteries. Do not smoke when batteries are serviced.

Battery CabinetThe Temperature Monitor unit is placed inside the first battery cabinet that houses a battery circuit-breaker "QF1". Refer to Illustration 1.
Open the unit cover.
Break the self-cleaving seal on the base of the unit for insertion of the connecting cable.
Install the unit in the cabinet using the self-adhesive stickerNote: The temperature sensor must be placed at the top of the cabinet to work properly.
Secure the using a 4 mm x 16 mm screw, nut, and washer combination.Note: These hardware components are not supplied.
Attach the cover.
Tie the connecting cable to the cabinet ensuring that the cable does not pull on the monitor.Installation Of The Temperature Monitor In The Battery Room

Secure the Temperature Monitor against a wall or any vertical support. Refer to Illustration 2.
Choose a location near the batteries and away from drafts. Drafts may adversely affect the accuracy of temperature measurements.
Using the holes provided in the base plate, screw the unit to the vertical support. Note: Unless the connecting cable runs on the surface, break the knock-out in the unit base plate provided for cable entry.
