Schematic of the Medium Pressure Circuit No. 1-AThis diagnostic code is associated with the Medium Pressure Circuit No. 1-A. The FMI 06 means that the machine ECM determined that the current is above normal.The possible causes of this failure are listed below:
The solenoid energizer circuit is shorted to ground.
The solenoid has failed.
The machine ECM has failed. This is unlikely. When this failure occurs, a warning is displayed on the message center and the machine ECM disables the circuit. Note: The following test procedure may create other failures. Ignore these created failures and clear the failures when the original failure is corrected. Test Step 1. CHECK THE SOLENOID.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
Ensure that the diagnostic code is active on the message center.
Disconnect the suspect solenoid from the machine harness.
Observe the message center. The diagnostic information may also be viewed with the ET. Expected Result:The diagnostic code has been replaced by a new diagnostic code on the message center. The VIDS message center may take several seconds before the diagnostic information is updated. This is normal. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code has been replaced by a new diagnostic code on the message center. The machine ECM is operating correctly.Repair: The solenoid has failed. Replace the solenoid. Stop.
NO - The diagnostic code remains active. Proceed to test step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE SOLENOID ENERGIZER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
The solenoid remains disconnected from the machine harness.
Disconnect the machine harness connectors J1 and J2 from the machine ECM.
At connector J2 of the machine harness, measure the resistance between contact J2-50 (wire P941-WH) and all the possible sources of ground. Expected Result:The resistance is greater than 5000 ohms. Results:
OK - The resistance measurements were greater than 5000 ohms. The harness is correct. Proceed to test step 3.
NOT OK - The resistance is less than 5000 ohms. The harness is incorrect. The short is between the signal circuit (wire P941-WH) and the circuit with the lowest resistance measurement.Repair: Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. Stop.Test Step 3. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REMAINS.
Inspect the harness connectors and clean the contacts of the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connectors.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Clear all active events on the message center by pressing the "OK" key.
Operate the machine.
Observe the message center. The diagnostic information may also be viewed with the ET. Expected Result:The diagnostic code is not active on the message center. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code is not active on the message center. The failure does not exist at this time. The initial failure was probably caused by a poor electrical connection or a short at one of the harness connections that was disconnected and reconnected. Resume normal machine operation. Stop.
NO - The diagnostic code is active on the message center. The failure has not been
