(1) This Tooling is available for rotating the engine.Start By:
Remove the crankcase covers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Cover - Remove and Install".
Remove the crankcase explosion relief valves. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Explosion Relief Valves - Remove and Install".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove saddle bolt (1) from each side of the engine.

Attach Tooling (A) to the engine.
Attach Tooling (B) to Tooling (A).

Position Tooling (C) to stud (2).
Install Tooling (B) to stud (2). When Tooling (B) is tight on stud (2), back Tooling (B) off 1 1/2 turns.

Install Tooling (D) to Tooling (B).
The slots on Tooling (C) must be positioned properly in order to provide clearance for the crankshaft. Refer to Illustration 5.
Repeat Steps 2 through 8 for the other stud.

Typical Example
Set Tooling (D) in order to achieve 108.0 4.0 MPa (15670 573 psi). When pressure is applied to Tooling (B) loosen nuts (3) at least 1 1/2 turns. Refer to Engine News, "SEBD9405 The Stud Tensioner Tool Groups for 3600, C280, and G3600 Engines Require Different Hydraulic Pressures ". Note: If Red Mark (X) has been exposed during the application of pressure to Tooling (B), Tooling (B) is at maximum travel. Release the pressure in Tooling (B) and repeat Steps 5 through 9. Failure to release the pressure could result in damage to Tooling (B), or nuts (3) may not be loosened.
