Caterpillar announces Remanufactured 3406E short and long blocks for truck engines with the
1LW serial number prefix.
3406E SHORT BLOCK

This short block is a repair option for 3406E engines in truck applications with the 1LW serial
number prefix.
Reman short blocks come fully assembled with the cylinder block and crankshaft groups and
cylinder pack assemblies.
CORE ACCEPTANCE
Core acceptance for Caterpillar?Remanufactured short blocks is simple, visual and requires no
special tools. See Core Acceptance Guideline SELD0026 for complete details. All 3406E short
blocks are acceptable cores for these offerings.
3406E LONG BLOCK

This product adds a long block repair option for 3406E truck engines with the 1LW serial
number prefix.
This Reman long block is fully assembled with the short block, cylinder head, camshaft, front
housing and gear groups, valve mechanism and cover groups, and water pump.
CORE ACCEPTANCE
Core acceptance for Caterpillar Remanufactured long blocks is simple, visual and requires no
special tools. See Core Acceptance Guideline SELD0029 for complete details. Long blocks
from any 3406E engine are acceptable cores for these offerings.
