Grade/Slope ControllerThere can be up to six on a machine. The following list contains the major switches and indicators that are used for viewing, accessing and manipulating data while the machine is in the service mode: (1) "Mode scroll" switch (2) "Menu #1" switch (3) "Menu #2" switch (4) "Enter" switch (5) Fault indicator (6) Right readout (7) Left readoutThe "mode scroll" switch allows service personnel to access information that is related to service. Service mode of the ECM will show service information on both readouts of the controller. The fault indicator that is on the controller is the primary indication of problems with the Grade & Slope Electronic Control System. When the fault indicator is flashing, a problem is present. The ECM has available information for diagnostics.
Start troubleshooting the Grade & Slope Electronic Control System by operating the machine and checking for functional problems.
Observe the fault indicator on the controller.
If the fault indicator is flashing, a fault is present and diagnostic information is available. Proceed to the next step.
If the fault indicator is not flashing, no fault is present. However, diagnostic information is still available for a fault that is no longer active.
Use service mode to view any inactive fault information.
If inactive fault information exists, then proceed to the next step.
If you have a problem but there are no diagnostic codes, then it is likely that a mechanical problem exists. Refer to the appropriate module within the Service Manual for the machine that is being tested.
Stop the machine. Proceed to "Determining Diagnostic Codes".Determining Diagnostic Codes
Use the following procedure to troubleshoot the diagnostic information.
The following procedure uses any one of the possible six controllers that are installed on the machine.
Enter service mode by pressing the "mode scroll" switch. Release the "mode scroll" switch when "SERVICE" is showing on the left readout.
A message is shown on the readouts at this time. If a fault has been detected, the readouts will show a diagnostic message. If no faults have been detected, "NO FAULT PRESENT" is shown on the readouts. Press the "menu #2" switch in order to toggle the display of the diagnostic information from a text message to CID-FMI.
To view all the diagnostic messages, press and hold the "menu #1" switch. The readouts will momentarily show each diagnostic code that has been detected. After the last diagnostic code has been displayed the readouts will start again with the first diagnostic code and you can continue to scroll through all of the diagnostic codes.
To put a particular diagnostic code on hold, press and hold the "menu #1" switch. Release the switch when the desired
