Information:
(1) Torque for nut (clamp on tie rod) ... 55 5 lb. ft.(75 7 N m)(2) Torque for bolts (pin clamp) ... 185 10 lb. ft.(254 14 N m)(3) Torque for nut on ball stud of tie rod (more torque when needed to install cotter) ... 100 10 lb. ft.(135 14 N m)(4) Torque for nut on ball stud of cylinder (more torque when needed to install cotter) ... 100 10 lb. ft.(135 14 N m)(5) Torque for nut (pin clamp) ... 320 15 lb. ft.(435 20 N m)(6) Torque for bolts (in spindle) ... 95 5 lb. ft.(130 7 N m)(11) Torque for locknut ... 250 30 lb. ft.(340 40 N m) (13) Torque for studs ... 170 20 lb. ft.(230 25 N m)(14) Use 2G5676 Washers as needed to get .06 in. (1.5 mm) maximum gap.(15) Minimum gap between washer and bar ... .03 in.(0.8 mm)Toe-in for Front Wheels:
1: Lift front wheels off ground. Install lockpin in tie bar for wheel lean.2: Rotate the wheel to put a mark around the center of the tread on each tire.3: Measure the distances from the mark on one tire to the mark on the other tire at both the front and at the rear of the tires. Toe-in is correct when measurement at the front tire is .12 to .25 in. (3.0 to 6.3 mm) less than the measurement at the rear of the tires.4: Make the toe-in adjustment if needed. Loosen nut (1) and the nut in the clamp at the other end of tie rod (8). Rotate tie rod (8) in the direction needed to get the correct toe-in for the front wheels. When the toe-in adjustment is correct, tighten the bolts in the clamps on tie rod (8).Adjustment for the Length of the Rod in the Steering Cylinder when the Toe-in for the Front Wheels is Correct:
1: Lift front wheels off ground. Install lockpin in tie bar.2: Loosen locknut (11) and turn cylinder rod (10) on to the threads of the ball socket as far as possible.3: Steer the wheels for a maximum turn to the left and hold the steering wheel in that position. Turn rod (10) into the steering cylinder until the distance between the stop on the spindle housing of the left wheel is .12 .06 in. (3.0 1.5 mm) from the stop on the axle assembly. Tighten locknut (11) to a torque of 250 30 lb. ft. (340 40 N m).4: Steer the wheels for a maximum turn to the right and hold the steering wheel in that position. Stop (7) must make a contact with stop (9).Bearing Preload for Front Axle Bearings:
Check the torque required to turn (rotate) the spindle. The torque must be a maximum of 175 lb. in. (20 N m). If the torque is too much, install one shim (12) between the retainer
