Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect" for the machine that is being serviced.
Park the machine on a flat, level surface. Lower the bucket to the ground. Chock the wheels in order to keep the machine from rolling when the drive shaft is removed.

Support rear drive shaft (1) with a suitable lifting device.
Remove bolts (2) that hold rear drive shaft (1) to yoke assemblies (3) and (4) .
Slide yoke assembly (3) toward the rear axle assembly so that enough clearance is provided for the removal of rear drive shaft (1) .
Use two people to carefully remove rear drive shaft (1). The weight of rear drive shaft (1) is approximately 23 kg (50 lb).Installation Procedure
When the rear drive shaft is installed, it must be installed in phase with the rear axle assembly yoke. The rear drive shaft must be installed in phase with the center and front drive shafts. Serious component damage could occur. Be certain that all the joint groups, all the yokes, and all the lubricating fittings are aligned.

Slide yoke assembly (3) toward the rear axle assembly so that enough clearance is provided for the installation of rear drive shaft (1) .
Use two people to carefully install rear drive shaft (1). The weight of rear drive shaft (1) is approximately 23 kg (50 lb).
Slide yoke assembly (3) toward rear drive shaft (1) so that rear drive shaft (1) is properly located.

Install bolts (2) that hold rear drive shaft (1) to yoke assemblies (3) and (4). Tighten bolts to (2) a torque of 150 15 N m (110 11 lb ft). Refer to Illustration 3 for the correct tightening sequence.
Remove the lifting device from rear drive shaft (1) .
Lubricate the rear drive shaft. For the correct procedure, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the machine that is being serviced.End By: Separate the steering frame lock.
