When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
Certain Reman cylinder heads contain casting sand in the coolant passages, which can become dislodged and get into the cooling system on engine models D379B, D398B, D399, G379A, G398A, & G399. The casting sand could potentially cause damage to other components in the cooling system of the engine.
ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect all 0R2669 and 0R2670 Cylinder Heads in parts stock, for the potential of having these suspect heads. The inspection procedures consist of the following:
1. Lift cylinder head from its container and inspect the end of the head, (Area A), to determine whether there is dark dye covering the Reman part number 0R2669 or 0R2670. (Image 1 & 2).
- If there is dark dye on (Area A), proceed to step 2.
- If there is no dark dye on (Area A), the cylinder head should be re-packaged in the original packaging and returned to dealer parts stock with no further part action required.
2. If there is dark dye on (Area A), inspect the opposite end of the head, (Image 1 & 3)(Area B). Verify if the number in Area B is in the suspect range of 48752 thru 51877.
- If the number in (Area B)is NOT in the suspect range of 48752 thru 51877, the cylinder head should be re-packaged in the original packaging and returned to dealer parts stock with no further part action required.
-If the number in (Area B) is in the suspect range of 48752 thru 51877, remove the cylinder head from dealer parts stock.

SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all parts removed from dealer parts stock.
PARTS DISPOSITION
0.5 hours will be allowed for each cylinder head in dealer inventory that is inspected.
Outside NACD:
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
For NACD:
Return all suspect cylinder heads to the address below:
