Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove three bolts (2) that hold adapter (1) to the aftercooler housing. Remove the O-ring seals.

Remove bolt (3) on each end of the engine oil filter housing.
Remove the bolts from clips (4) on the harness assembly.
Remove bolts (5) that hold the engine oil filter housing to the support.

Disconnect fittings (8) and (9).
Remove four bolts (6) and disconnect harness assembly (7) from the ECM.

Disconnect harness assembly (10) from ECM (11). Remove the ECM (11).
Remove the bolts from clips (13) on the harness assembly.
Remove mounting plate (12) from engine oil filter housing (14).
Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device on engine oil filter housing (14).

Remove bolts (15) that hold the engine oil filter housing to the support.
Remove the engine oil filter housing from the support. The weight of the engine oil filter housing is approximately 95 kg (210 lb).
