At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oils can cause burns.To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the implement hydraulic circuit (boom, stick, bucket, and swing), travel circuits, and the hydraulic oil tank at the filler cap before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch.
Lower the boom to the ground.
Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release".

Disconnect grease hose assembly (1) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to boom cylinder (4) .
Remove bolts (2), retainer plate (3), and the spacer.
Repeat Step 5 in order to remove the retainer plate on the other boom cylinder.

Make sure that the threaded puller hole in the end of support pin (5) is clean. Use a suitable lifting device to position Tooling (A) on the opposite side of the boom cylinder that is being removed. The weight of Tooling (A) is approximately 172 kg (380 lb).
Use Tooling (A) in order to remove support pin (5). The combined weight of support pin (5) and Tooling (A) is approximately 308 kg (680 lb).

Lower boom cylinder (4) onto Tooling (B), as shown.
Repeat Steps 3 through 9 in order to disconnect the other boom cylinder.

Disconnect harness assembly (6) and remove clip (7) .
Disconnect hose assemblies (8) .
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to boom (9). The weight of boom (9) and the stick cylinder is approximately 6124 kg (13500 lb).

Remove bolt (11) from pin assembly (10) .

Make sure that the threaded puller hole in pin assembly (10) is clean. Use a suitable lifting device in order to position Tooling (D), as shown. The weight of Tooling (D) is approximately 172 kg (380 lb).
Use Tooling (D) in order to remove pin assembly (10). The combined weight of pin assembly (10) and Tooling (D) is approximately 279 kg (615 lb).
Repeat Step 15 in order to remove the other pin assembly from the boom.
Remove boom (9) from the machine.Note: Machines may be equipped with shims between the boom and the frame at the pin joint. Note the location and the quantity of shims for assembly purposes.
Remove the shims (if equipped) at the connection point of the boom and frame.
