Remove guard assembly (1).
Disconnect tube assemblies (2) and (3) from the service brake.Note: If the axle assembly is still on the machine, proceed to Step 4.Note: The preferred method for the rear oscillating axle is to leave the axle on the machine to perform this procedure.
Illustration 2 g00368975Note: If the rear oscillating axle is removed to perform this procedure, suitable cribbing will have to be used instead of Tooling (A). Do not support rear oscillating axle under the trunnions.
If the axle assembly has been removed from the machine, place the axle assembly on Tooling (A). Make sure that the axle assembly is positioned as if the axle assembly is installed on the machine.

Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to the wheel, as shown. For equal distribution of weight, adjust the length of the lifting device . The combined weight of the final drive, of the brake, and of the wheel is approximately 1815 kg (4000 lb).

Remove nuts (5) and bolts (4).

Use Tooling (B) and the suitable lifting device to carefully remove final drive, brake, and wheel (6) from the axle housing as a unit.

Remove O-ring seal (7) from the mounting flange of the service brake.Installation Procedure

B 138-7576 Link Brackets 3 Note: Clean the mating surfaces of the axle housing and of the service brake prior to installation.Note: Check the O-ring seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

Install O-ring seal (7) on the mounting flange of the service brake. Apply a thin coat of final drive oil on O-ring seal (7).

Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to the wheel, as shown. For equal distribution of weight, adjust the length of the lifting device. The combined weight of final drive, brake, and wheel (6) is approximately 1815 kg (4000 lb).
Check the condition of dowels (8). If any dowels (8) are broken or damaged, install new dowels (8).
Align dowels (8) with the holes in the service brake. Use the suitable lifting device to carefully install the final drive, the brake, and wheel (6) on the axle housing as a unit.

Install bolts (4) and nuts (5). Tighten bolts (4) and nuts (5) to a torque of 1125 100 N m (830 74 lb ft).
Remove the suitable lifting device and Tooling (B) from wheel (6).Note: If the axle assembly is on the machine, continue with the following steps.

Connect tube assemblies (2) and (3) to the service brake.
Install guard assembly (1).
Purge the air from the service brakes. For the correct procedure, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Brake System Air - Purge".End By:
Install the axle shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Shaft - Remove and Install".
Install the tire and the rim. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim (Front) - Remove and Install" for the front tire and rim. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire
