Remove the bearing retainer mounting bolts (25) if the unit has the bearing retainer ring. Note: The bearing retainer is a one piece ring for early models. Note: The bearing retainer ring is a one piece ring. The bearing retainer can only be removed after the removal of the exciter rotor. The bearing retainer is located on the inboard side of the end bracket.Note: Two bearing retainer bars are used for later models.
Use the following steps for the units that are equipped with bearing retainer bars.
Remove the top two bearing retainer mounting bolts (25) and loosen the bottom two bearing retainer bolts. Move the retainers enough to allow removal the bearing from the end bracket bore. The retainer bolts also hold the bearing sleeve in place. Do not remove the bearing sleeve.

Once the retainer bars (26) are in the correct position, tighten the two bottom retainer bar mounting bolts to hold the sleeve (27) in place.
Attach a suitable lifting device on end bracket. The weight of end bracket and main rotor is approximately 3000 kg (6600 lb).

Make an alignment mark (30) from the end bracket to the main stator housing. Remove four of the end bracket mounting bolts (31). Note: The alignment mark will ensure that the end bracket will put back into the correct position when the generator is assembled.

(35) Pusher Bolts
Install two pusher bolts (35). Refer to Illustration 17. Note: The bolts that are used to separate the end bracket from the main stator housing are referred to as pusher, forcing, or jacking bolts.
Apply lifting pressure to the lifting device in order to be able to remove the remaining end bracket mounting bolts (31). Remove the remaining end bracket mounting bolts (31).
Tighten each pusher bolt (35) one turn at a time until the end bracket shoulder is no longer in contact with the generator stator housing.
Apply sufficient lift pressure on the lifting device until the weight is off the guide pins (34).

Pry bars may be used to help separate the end bracket from the main stator housing if needed.

Remove the guide pins (34). Remove the pusher bolts (35).
Lower the end bracket (10) until the weight of the main rotor (43) rests on the protective strips (2 22). Note: Ensure that the rotating rectifier leads are protected from being damaged as the end bracket is removed.Note: Be sure to avoid damage to the
