 Introduction
The problem that is identified in the technical information bulletin that follows does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, provide the following information.Problem
The PM-200 clutches may not completely engage if the clutch lock-up pressure is not to specifications. Mixing of clutch oil and hydraulic oil may occur on certain PM-200 if there is a defect with the tensioning hydraulic cylinder. The mixing of oils may affect the clutch lock-up performance.Root Cause
The clutch pressure may be affected by improper clutch valve adjustment.The clutch pressure may be affected by improper clutch valve performance.The clutch pressure may be affected by abnormal viscosity of the clutch oil.Solution
After clutch failure on the PM-200 Cold Planers, report the following information in a service claim if under warranty and in a DSN:
If possible, perform this test with cold oil and hot oil. Final adjustment should be made at the temperatures per the procedure.
Note if there are any stability issues with the pressure.
Note the approximate oil temp (cold, warm, hot) for each test.
Repeat the clutch pressure test with the clutch control line disconnected and capped at the clutch.
Note the level of the hydraulic oil in the hydraulic oil tank.
Note the level of the clutch oil in the clutch oil tank.
Take an SOS of the clutch oil and attach results. The factory fill for the clutch system is Cat TDTO SAE 30.
Take an SOS of the hydraulic oil and attach results. The factory fill for the hydraulic system is Cat HYDO Advanced 10.
Review Product Information System PIS for any applicable PIP/PSP programs affecting the clutch or rotor belt tension system.
Please request that the DSN be forwarded to Tier II and not closed by Tier I.Reference Parts List
