Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Inspect O-ring seals (1) for wear or for damage. Replace the O-ring seals, if necessary. Install bolts (4) which secure the pinion and carrier group in the cartridge assembly.
Remove plug (5) from the pinion and carrier group (3). Install Tooling (A) in place of the plug.
Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (A). The cartridge assembly weighs approximately 55 kg (122 lb).
Install the cartridge assembly (1), (2), and (3) in the winch case. Install bolts (6) in order to secure the cartridge assembly in the winch case.
Remove Tooling (A) and install plug (5) and the washer.End By:
Install the first reduction gears. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, "Gear Group - Assemble".
If the cartridge assembly was removed as a unit, install the hydraulic motor in the winch. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, "Hydraulic Motor - Install".
