If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated immediately by a doctor familiar with this type of injury.Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak.
Personal injury or death can result from machine articulation or movement.Machine frames can move and a person can be crushed.Connect the steering frame lock link between the front and rear frames before working on machine.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "System Pressure Release"
Move the machine to a smooth, horizontal location. Move the machine away from other operating machines and away from personnel.
Lower the work tool to the ground. Stop the engine.
Engage the parking brake.
Place chocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.Test Procedure
Position the machine so that the machine is in the STRAIGHT AHEAD Position.

Install the steering lock into the frame at the articulation point on the left side of the machine.

Rear of machine (1) Steering pressure test port
Open engine compartment hood on the rear of the machine to gain access to the steering pump test port.
Install tooling (A) to the steering pump test port (1) which is the second gear pump in the stack.
Start the engine. Operate the engine at high idle. Stall the steering by continuously turning the steering wheel to the right or the left. Record the pressure indicated by tooling (A) while the steering is stalled. The steering system pressure should be 20500 kPa (2973 psi).
Turn the engine start switch key to the OFF position.
Remove the test equipment.
