Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
The engine can start automatically. Ensure that the power supply is isolated before any service or repairs is performed.
Turn the valve for the sea water circuit to the OFF position.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining procedures.

Loosen clamps (1) and clamps (3) (not shown). Remove tube assembly (2) from heat exchanger (4) and from the water temperature regulator.
Loosen clamps (9) and clamps (13) from tube assembly (10). Remove the tube assembly from heat exchanger (4) and from the water pump.
Loosen hose clamp (17).
Loosen the hose clamps and remove the hoses assembly from connection (8) on heat exchanger (4).
Disconnect the hose assembly from connection (5).
Remove bolts (11) and bolts (15) from tube assembly (14). Remove the tube assembly from heat exchanger (4) and from the auxiliary water pump.
Remove O-ring seal (12) (not shown) and O-ring seal (16) (not shown).
Disconnect harness assembly (7) from the boost pressure sensor.
Disconnect harness assembly (6) from the inlet air temperature.

Remove bolts (18). Remove bracket (19) from aftercooler (4) and inlet duct (24).
Remove bolts (20) and bolt (21) (not shown) from aftercooler (4). Support the weight of the aftercooler as the bolts are removed.
Remove aftercooler (4) from adapter (22) and mounting bracket (26).
Remove adapter (22) from inlet duct (24). Remove O-ring seal (25) and O-ring seal (23) (not shown) from adapter (22).
If necessary, disassemble aftercooler (4) refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Aftercooler - Disassemble" for the correct procedure.

If necessary, follow Step 18.a through Step 18.h in order to remove mounting bracket (26).
Remove the nut covers and nuts (28) and remove cover (29).
Make temporary marks on harness assemblies to show position of the cable straps. Cut cable straps (32) from the harness assemblies.
Disconnect harness assembly (27) and harness assembly (31). Position the harness assemblies away from the mounting bracket (26).
Remove bolt (35) from the clip. Disconnect tube assembly (36) from the connection and relief valve (30) (not shown).
Remove fuel manifold (34) (not shown) refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Manifold (Rail) (None M.C.S Arrangement) - Remove and Install" and Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Manifold (Rail) (M.C.S. Regulated Engines) - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Disconnect tube assembly (33).
Remove allen head bolts (37) (not shown) and bolts (38) from mounting bracket (26). Support the mounting bracket as the bolts are removed.
Remove mounting bracket (26) from the cylinder head (39). Installation Procedure
