A Product Identification Number (PIN) is used on all Caterpillar machines and Caterpillar generator sets for identification worldwide. For Caterpillar products in Europe, the identification plates incorporate service information and the CE mark for the certification in Europe. High strength adhesive will attach the identification plates.Dealers can place an order for the part number for the appropriate replacement machine identification plate in either the ANTARES system or the Dealer Business System. When the order is placed in ANTARES, be sure to include the required information in the Special Instructions field. If the information is missing, the Direct Ship analyst will contact the ordering dealer and request the information. If the information is not provided within 24 hours, then the Direct Ship analyst will cancel the order and advise the dealer why the order was canceled.Required information for the following replacement PIN plates 239-6986, 239-6987, and 239-6988:

Transmission arrangement numberIf the machine is located in a European country that requires a CE mark, the special instructions must also include “CE MARK NEEDED”.The supplier will process the order for the replacement machine identification plate and will record the order for the replacement machine identification plate.The replacement machine identification plates will be stamped "DUPLICATE". Dealer personnel should verify the PIN number on the replacement PIN plate with the PIN numbers that are stamped in the frame of the product.The Process for Ordering a Replacement Machine Identification Plate
Dealers can use the following process to order a replacement machine identification plate.
Place an order for the part number for the appropriate replacement machine identification plate in either the ANTARES system or the Dealer Business System.
When you place the order directly in the ANTARES system, the required information in step 4 must be entered in the Special Instructions Field.
When you place the order directly in the Dealer Business System, the required information in step 4 must be sent via e-mail to Replacement Pinplate. In the e-mail to Replacement Pinplate , you should reference the “PSO Number” of the order for the replacement machine identification plate.
