Telemetry circuitThis diagnostic code is recorded when the Communication Gateway ECM has an abnormal Telemetry data-link communication update rate. Test Step 1. VERIFY THAT THE BROADCAST SYSTEM IS FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY
Verify that the broadcast system (transmitter) is operating correctly.Expected Result:The broadcast system (transmitter) is operating correctly.Results:
OK - The broadcast system (transmitter) is operating correctly. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The broadcast system (transmitter) is not operating correctly.Repair: Repair the broadcast system.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK FOR A HARNESS OPEN
Turn off the key start and disconnect switches.
Disconnect:
The Communication Gateway ECM connector.
The RS-232 broadcast port from the broadcast system.
Measure the resistance between the following:
Communication Gateway ECM RS-232 broadcast port contact 13 and Product Link contact 5 (Wire N960- OR)
Communication Gateway ECM RS-232 broadcast port contact 22 and Product Link contact 7 (Wire N957-PK)
Communication Gateway ECM RS-232 broadcast port contact 23 and Product Link contact 9 (Wire N970-YL)
Communication Gateway ECM RS-232 broadcast port contact 30 and Product Link contact 10 (Wire N973-BR)
Communication Gateway ECM RS-232 broadcast port contact 31 and Product Link contact 8 (Wire N979-GN) Expected Result:All resistance is < 5.0 Ω. Results:
OK - All resistance is < 5.0 Ω. Go to Step 3.
NOT OK - All resistance is ≥ 5000 Ω. The harness has failed. Repair: Repair or replace the harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE HARNESS FOR A SHORT TO GROUNDThe harness remains disconnected from the Communication Gateway ECM and the broadcast system.
Measure the resistance from frame ground to the following Communication Gateway ECM connector contacts:
RS-232 broadcast port contact 13 (Wire N960-OR)
RS-232 broadcast port contact 22 (Wire N957-PK)
RS-232 broadcast port contact 23 (Wire N970-YL)
RS-232 broadcast port contact 30 (Wire N973-BR)Expected Result:All resistance is ≥ 5000 Ω.Results:
OK - All resistance is ≥ 5000 Ω. The harness is OK. The Communication Gateway ECM may have failed.Repair: Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. If the cause of the failure is not found, contact your Technical Communicator. If ECM replacement is required, see Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace ".STOP
NOT OK - All resistance is < 5000 Ω. The harness has failed.Repair: Repair or replace the harness.STOP
