Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the exhaust elbow.
Remove the turbocharger.
Remove the exhaust bypass valve.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Cut the wires that hold the exhaust heat shield in place and remove the exhaust heat shield.

Remove four bolts (2) and the nuts from each side of exhaust adapter (3).
Remove eight bolts (1) and the nuts that hold exhaust bellows (3) to the exhaust adapter.
Remove exhaust adapter (3) and the two metal gaskets.

Remove four nuts (4) and the bolts in order to remove the remaining sections of the exhaust manifold. Note: Ensure that bellows (5) of the exhaust manifold are not damaged by any tools.
Use the following steps if only one of the sections of the exhaust manifold must be removed on all G3500 Engines.

Typical example
Remove eight bolts (6) and the nuts that hold each section of the exhaust manifold together.
Remove four bolts (7) and the washers that hold the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.
Remove exhaust manifold section (5) and the metal gasket between each of the sections. Also remove the gasket that is on the cylinder head.
Repeat these steps for each section of the exhaust manifold that must be removed.
