Information:

The SmartBoom switch is an alternate type 3-position switch. The switch is able to select from the following modes:
(A) Boom UP and DOWN (Boom Float)
(B) SmartBoom Disable
(C) Boom DOWN OnlyIf the machine has the SmartBoom system, the machine will be equipped with the following:
SmartBoom select switch
Pressure sensor for SmartBoom control (boom cylinder rod end) (3)
Pressure sensor for boom regeneration control (boom cylinder head end) (4)
Boom DOWN electronic check solenoid (5)
Boom UP electronic check solenoid (20)

The SmartBoom operation can be momentarily canceled by pressing joystick switch (D) shown in Illustration 4.Boom DOWN Only Mode

(28) Hydraulic tank The "Boom DOWN Only" mode (C) is selected when the toggle switch is positioned as shown in Illustration 3. When right joystick (6) is moved to a boom DOWN position, pressure sensor for boom regeneration (7) sends a signal to the machine ECU for a boom down operation. Boom DOWN proportional solenoid valve (10) is activated to reduce the pilot oil pressure to boom I control valve (21). Boom I control valve (21) does not shift and the valve stays in the NEUTRAL position. While a "Boom DOWN Only" mode operation is being performed, boom DOWN electric check solenoid valve (5) is activated and a path from the head end of boom cylinders (1) is now open to hydraulic tank (28). Hydraulic oil flows from the head end of boom cylinders (1), through boom lowering control valves (2), and through boom DOWN electronic check solenoid valve (5). The oil then flows though makeup line (29) and into hydraulic tank (28).Pressure sensor (3) measures the rod pressure of the boom cylinder and sends a signal to the machine ECU for SmartBoom control. The boom structure moves down in the regeneration condition until the worktool comes in contact with the ground or work material. This movement is only caused by the force of gravity acting on the boom structure. For more information on boom regeneration, refer to Systems Operation, "Boom System" for the machine.Boom cylinders (1) will not extend during the "Boom DOWN Only" mode operation even if the boom structure is pushed up by
