Main Screed and Extenders
(1) Vibratory motor
(2) Eccentric weight unit
(3) Port "A"
(4) Port "B" The screed is equipped with four vibratory motors (1). One vibratory motor is mounted on each half of the main screed. A vibratory motor is also located on each screed extender. The motor in the right main screed section is shown in the illustration.Vibratory motor (1) is a gear-type hydraulic motor. The displacement of the motor is 17 cc (0.6 oz) per revolution. The motors are driven in a single direction. Port "A" (3) is the inlet port. Port "B" (4) is the outlet port. The vibratory motor drives eccentric weight unit (2). When the motor is rotating, the eccentric weight inside the unit causes vibration. The vibration aids in the initial compaction of the mat. The speed of the motor determines the frequency of the vibration. The vibratory frequency is controlled with the rotary dial on either the left or the right operator station of the screed. The vibratory control signals generated by the stations are sent to the screed ECM.The screed ECM communicates vibratory control signals to the machine ECM through CAN lines. The vibratory system on the tractor is controlled by output signals from the machine ECM. For further information of the vibratory system, refer to the tractor documentation.Gear Motor (Tamper)

Screed Tamper Bar
(1) Tamper motor
(2) Drive shaft
(3) Port "A"
(4) Port "B" The main screed may be equipped with an optional tamper system. When installed, the screed is equipped with four tamper motors (1). One tamper motor is mounted on each half of the main screed. A tamper motor is also located on each screed extender. The right main screed tamper motor is shown.Tamper motor (1) is a gear-type hydraulic motor. The displacement of the motor is 25 cc (0.8 oz) per revolution. The motors are driven in a single direction. Port "A" (3) is the inlet port. Port "B" (4) is the outlet port. Each tamper motor (1) turns drive shaft (2) which operates an eccentric follower. The follower converts rotational motion into linear motion. The tamper bar is connected to the follower. When the motor rotates, the tamper bar oscillates in a vertical direction. The tamper bar aids in the initial compaction of the mat. The tamper motor speed is controlled with the rotary dial on either the left or the right operator station of the screed. The tamper control signals generated by the stations are sent to the screed ECM.The screed ECM communicates vibratory control signals to the machine ECM through CAN lines. The tamper system on the tractor is controlled by output signals from the machine ECM. For further information of the tamper system, refer to the tractor documentation.
