Removal Procedure
Personal injury can result from failure to disconnect the battery.First, disconnect the negative battery cable. Then, disconnect the positive battery cable.A positive power lead can cause sparks if the battery is not disconnected. Sparks can possibly result in battery explosion or fire.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the "OFF" position.

Disconnect harness (1), harness (2), and harness (3).
Fasten a suitable lifting device to electric starting motor (5). The weight of electric starting motor (5) is approximately 39 kg (85 lb).
Remove bolts (4).
Remove electric starting motor (5) and the gasket from the flywheel housing.Installation Procedure
Install electric starting motor (5) in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten the nut on harness (1) to a torque of 30.5 3.5 N m (270 31lb in).
Tighten the nut on harness (2) to a torque of 2.6 0.8 N m (23.0 7.1 lb in).
