Idler Bearing Removal
(1) Install 6V6084 Stud (1) into the ram on the track press. To use the 6V6084 Stud on presses with other than 2.5"-8 threads, modification to the stud is necessary. Install the correct pusher plate (2) on stud (1). Remove both bearings from the idler; press the pusher plate completely through the idler. (2) Install 6V6095 Plate (3) on pusher plate (2) with four S1595 Bolts and 4B5273 Washers. Clean the idler bore and bearings with 6V1541 Quick Cure Primer. Put a thin layer of 7M7456 Bearing Mount on the idler bore. Make sure all parts are clean. Press the bearing into the idler until 6V6095 Plate (3) is against the idler hub. Follow the same procedure for the opposite side of the idler. (3) When necessary install brackets (18) or (19) (see page 3) on the holding fixture; this will move the centerline of the idler higher. Spacers (24), (25) and (26) on page 3 can also be used to adjust the centerline of the idler as needed.Honing Recommendations
1) Rough stones (150 grit) will cut 0.076-0.13 (.003"-.005") per minute.2) Finish stones (400 grit) will cut 0.03-0.05 (.001"-.002") per minute. After use of the rough stone, approximately 0.076 (.003") of material should be available for use of the finish stone.3) Move the honing stones back and forward about 20 to 30 times per minute.4) Increase the diameter of the stones as needed to adjust for the material being removed. A good time to increase the diameter of the stones is when the RPM of the drill increases.5) To use the least time when rough honing track rollers after welding, two complete sets of hones should be used (one for rough and one for finish). Use 5P8615 Honing Oil at all times.6) When new stones are used, it is necessary to adjust the stones to the radius of the bore. Start the hone and make strokes in the bore for a short period of time. Then increase the diameter of the stones with the wing wrench and again do the above procedure. New stones will wear fast until the curves on the stone are the same as the bore.7) Stones and guides must be kept together and used as a set. Never change guides with a different set of stones. Honing results will not be good.8) Glazed (smooth) stones will not cut; if necessary, use an abrasive stick to remove the glaze. To help keep the stones from becoming glazed increase the stone pressure in the bore with the wing wrench and increase the stroke speed.9) After use of the honing tool is complete, clean with hot water, steam or cleaning solvents.Honing Operation And Procedure
(1) When honing diameters larger than 139Ø (5.5"Ø), the 6V6089 and 6V6091 Stone Sets (14) and (15), shown
