"System Pressure Is Low"System Pressure Is Low
Check the system pressure.
Operate the engine at low idle.
Press down the service brake pedal in order to engage the brakes.
Place the transmission in the NEUTRAL position.
Disengage the parking brake.
Check the system pressure at pressure tap (P) for the transmission main relief valve.Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Schematic" in this module.Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Taps" in this module.Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Charts" in this module.Expected Results
The system pressure is correct.
The original problem is resolved.Results
"OKAY": Stop.
"NOT OKAY": Proceed to Step 2.
Check the transmission modulating valves.
Check the installation of the transmission modulating valves. Make sure that the valves are installed correctly and that the valves are torqued properly.
If necessary, repair the valves or replace the valves.
Check the system pressure.Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Taps" in this module.Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Charts" in this module.Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Transmission Controls" in this module.Expected Results
The system pressure is correct.Results
"OKAY": Stop.
"NOT OKAY": The cause of the problem may be the adjustment of the main relief valve. The main relief valve maintains the system pressure in the control section of the power train oil pump. Proceed to Step 3.
Adjust the main relief valve.Reference: Refer to, "Main Relief Valve - Adjust" in this module.Results
"OKAY": Stop.
"NOT OKAY": Proceed to Step 4.
Check the priority valve relief setting.
Operate the engine at low idle.
Place the transmission in the NEUTRAL position.
Disengage the parking brake.
Check the pressure setting at the priority valve. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Taps" in this module.Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Charts" in this module.Expected Results
The pressure is correct.Results
"OKAY": Proceed to Step 6.
"NOT OKAY": Proceed to Step 5.
Inspect the priority valve.
Disassemble the priority valve and inspect the valve for failure.
Check these components for problems: the valve spool and the spring.
Assemble the priority valve. Install the priority valve.
Check the operation of the machine for the original problem.Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Taps" in this module.Reference: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Priority Valve" in the Service Manual for your machine.Expected Results
The original problem is resolved.Results

Inspect the main relief valve.
Disassemble the main relief valve and inspect the valve for failure.
Check the stiffness of the spring.Reference: Refer to Specifications, "Priority Valve" in the Service Manual for your machine.
If necessary, repair the valve or replace the valve.
Check the operation of the machine for the original problem.Expected Results

"NOT OKAY": Proceed to Step 7.
Inspect the oil pump.
Disassemble the oil pump and inspect the pump for failure.
Inspect the oil pump drive for failure.
Repair the pump drive or replace the pump drive, if necessary.
Repair the pump or replace the pump, if necessary.
Check the operation of the machine for the original problem.Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Power Train Oil Pump" in the Service Manual for your machine.Expected Results
