Associated Codes
N/A Over time, sulfur from the diesel fuel builds up on the SCR catalyst. When sulfation becomes excessive the catalyst loses the ability to convert NOx, resulting in higher emissions.The sulfur deposited on the catalyst can be removed by performing a regeneration.When the temperature requirement is maintained for the minimum duration, the desulfation process is completed and the active code will be removed.

Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check for an Associated Code
A. Connect to Cat® Electronic Technician (ET).
B. Download the "Warranty Report" from the engine ECM before performing and troubleshooting or clearing any diagnostic codes.
C. Determine if any associated codes from Table 2 are present.
Associated Codes
Result: An associated code is not present.
Proceed to Step 2.
Result: An associated code is present.
Refer to the appropriate procedure to troubleshoot the associated codes.
If the problem is not resolved, proceed to Test Step 2.
2. Perform a "Manual DPF Regeneration"
Note: This test must be performed through Cat ET. The Cat ET service tool enhances the diagnostics during the service test.
A. Start a "Manual DPF Regeneration".
Note: Do not run this test more than twice. Doing so when a 7504-16 or 7504-0 has been logged can cause oil dilution. If the test needs to run more than twice in a row. change the engine oil before returning the machine to service.
"Manual DPF Regeneration"
Result: The "Manual DPF Regeneration" was successful.
Return the engine to service.
Result: The "Manual DPF Regeneration" was not successful.
Troubleshoot any other diagnostic codes that are present.
