Information:
The Throttle Position Sensor calibration requires the use of a Caterpillar Electronic Service Tool (ECAP or ET). Refer to the Troubleshooting manual and SEHS9199 Tool Operating Manual for additional information.1. Turn the ignition keyswitch to the OFF position.2. Connect the Electronic Service Tool to the Service Tool Connector.3. Turn the ignition keyswitch to the ON position, engine OFF.4. Access the Monitor Throttle Position Sensor Signal screen on the Electronic Service Tool to display Duty Cycle.5. Adjust the throttle linkage, with the throttle lever in the LOW IDLE position. The LOW IDLE duty cycle should read between eight and ten percent. After adjustment, a slight movement away from the LOW IDLE stop should increase the duty cycle reading.6. Adjust the throttle linkage, with the throttle lever in the HIGH IDLE position. The HIGH IDLE duty cycle should read between 90 and 95 percent. On some linkage designs changing the HIGH IDLE adjustment can affect the LOW IDLE stop position. Repeat the adjustment at LOW IDLE to verify that the LOW IDLE stop is properly adjusted.
