Introduction
This special instruction contains the steps for installing the drain pan for the heater hoses in the cab of the 587R Pipelayer.Safety
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Note: All hoses can remain assembled to the fittings during the installation of the drip pan. There should not be any fluid loss during the installation of the drip pan.
Remove the center section of the cab headliner.

Remove existing bracket (16) from the top of the cab and from the heater hoses.

Attach plate (15) to the heater valve and the top of the cab with the existing hardware.

Attach clip (2) to plate (14) with bolt (7) and washer (10) .
Attach edging (5) to plate (14). Refer to Illustration 3 for the location of edging (5) .
Attach elbow (13) and seal (12) to plate (14). Refer to Illustration 3 for the correct orientation of elbow (13) .
Attach plate (14) to plate (15) with two bolts (3) and two washers (6) .

Reroute existing hose (17) with clip (9), bolt (8), and washer (10). Refer to Illustration 4 for the correct routing of hose (17) .
Connect existing harness (18) to clip (2) with strap (1) .
Route one end of hose (4) down the cab post. Attach the other end of hose (4) to elbow (13) with clamp (11) .
Reattach the center section of the cab headliner.
