Brake Relief Valve (1) Retainer assembly (2) Spring (3) Manifold (4) Tank return port (5) Valve (6) Pressure portThe brake relief valve is a normally closed valve that is connected between the pump pressure line and the hydraulic tank. The brake relief valve prevents excessive pressure in the hydraulic brake and implement pilot systems.The brake relief valve is set to open at 22750 400 kPa (3300 58 psi). To adjust the pressure setting, turn retainer assembly (1) clockwise or counterclockwise.The pressure oil from the pump enters manifold (3) at pressure port (6). The oil will exert pressure on the closed valve (5) which is held closed by spring (2). The spring will hold the valve closed when the oil pressure is below 22750 400 kPa (3300 58 psi). If the oil pressure approaches 22750 kPa (3300 psi), the force of the oil will overcome the force of the spring which will open the valve. The oil will be diverted to the hydraulic tank through tank port (4). This controls the amount of pressure that flows to the rest of the system. The force of the spring will close the valve when the oil pressure decreases below the pressure setting.
