Removal Procedure
Personal injury can result from failure to disconnect the battery.First, disconnect the negative battery cable. Then, disconnect the positive battery cable.A positive power lead can cause sparks if the battery is not disconnected. Sparks can possibly result in battery explosion or fire.
Disconnect the batteries.
Remove the belt guard.

Put an index mark on all of the harness assemblies that are connected to alternator (2).
Disconnect the harness assemblies from the alternator.
Loosen adjusting nuts (1).

Remove belt (3).

Remove bolt (4). Remove bolt (5) and remove the alternator.

If necessary, remove nut (6) and remove the pulley from the alternator.Installation Procedure

If necessary, install the pulley on alternator (2). Install nut (6) and tighten to a torque of 110 10 N m (81 7 lb ft).

Position alternator (2) and install bolt (5) and bolt (4). Do not tighten the bolts.

Install belt (3).

Adjust the belt tension and tighten adjusting nuts (1) on the adjusting rod. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Belt Tension Chart".
Tighten bolt (4) and bolt (5).
Connect the harness assemblies on alternator (2). Tighten the nuts. Refer to Specifications, "Alternator and Regulator" for the torque values.
Install the belt guard.
Connect the batteries.
