Any Electric Power Generation (EPG) C9 genset rated 250 kW (335 hp) or 300 kW (402 hp) (60 Hz) that has flash file 383-8631 Engine Ratings Electronic Software Gp may log a 42-5 fault code during starting or after operating at or near full load. The 42-5 fault code indicates the Hydraulic Electronic Pump (HEP) pump stays in open loop and the engine speed is not stable, or the engine is unable to pull a full load. This indication gives the appearance that the HEP pump has failed when most likely the problem is being caused by flash file 383-8631.Solution
If a 42-5 fault code is encountered during start-up, install flash file 421-9060 Engine Ratings Electronic Software Gp to replace flash file 383-8631.
