(1) Fuel shutoff solenoid (2) PlungerThis procedure tests the fuel shutoff solenoid for correct operation.
Remove the fuel shutoff solenoid from the engine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Shutoff Solenoid - Remove and Install".
Connect the fuel shutoff solenoid to the test circuit that is shown in Illustration 2.

When the start button is pushed, plunger (2) should retract. The plunger should remain retracted until the circuit is de-energized by the stop switch. If the fuel shutoff solenoid fails this test, replace the fuel shutoff solenoid.
Install the fuel shutoff solenoid on the engine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Shutoff Solenoid - Remove and Install".
