(1) Install shims as required to provide end float in bearing assemblies of ... 0.08-0.13mm (0.003-0.005in.)Bearing Adjustment.
The gearbox bearings are adjusted with shims located between the casing(2) and oil seal holder(3) and between the casing and end cap(4). The adjustment procedure is the same for each bearing assembly so only the top gear bearing adjustment is described.1. Install oil seal holder(3) without shims or O-ring seal. Use two bolts equally spaced without washers.2. Turn the gears by hand while tightening the bolts slowly and evenly until all end float in the bearings is taken up. When all end float in the bearings is taken up the effort required to turn the gears will start to increase. This should correspond to a torque of approximately 1.0N m(9lb.in.) on the two bolts.3. Measure the clearance between the casing and oil seal holder at two positions directly opposite each other. Average these two measurements.4. Remove the oil seal holder and make up a shim pack (1) whose thickness equals the average measured clearance plus 0.10mm(0.004in.)5. Install the oil seal holder with shims and O-ring seal. Tighten the bolts to their specified torque.
