Flush the fluid end with water to clean out any of the remaining matter. Blow the empty passages dry with compressed air.
Drain all oil from the power end.
Remove the rear cover of the power end to expose the drive components. Spray all internal parts with a rust preventative that is soluble in lubricating oil while rotating the crankshaft several turns manually to ensure complete coverage.
Replace the rear cover. Add a concentrated internal rust inhibitor.
Spray a rust preventative onto all exterior machine surfaces. Pay careful attention to all unpainted areas such as the crankshaft extension and plunger rods.
Remove the power end breather vent and store the vent in a dry place. Cap the opening with a plug in order to keep the preservative atmosphere sealed inside of the power frame.
Ensure that the pump is stored on a shelf or pallet that is at least 3 inches above the ground.
Cover the entire pump with a canvas or with plastic.
Periodically inspect the pump. Rotate the crankshaft manually by several turns during each inspection.
Drain and replace the rust inhibitor
