This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS8692" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

This Service Letter provides instructions to properly ground the G3500 Series EIS Sensor Shields to eliminate generation of a 317-11 Fault Code during no load/idle conditions. Electrical noise can disrupt the manifold air pressure signal. Loading the engine will create a stronger signal, thus, allowing for resetting or clearing of the fault code.

In order to eliminate the reoccurrence of continuous 317-11 Fault Codes under no load/idle conditions, the electrical shield ground reference for the engine sensors must be modified. Use the following procedure to establish a different ground reference for the engine sensor shield ground:
1. Remove the two sensor shield ground lugs from the separate circuit aftercooler (SCAC) pump outlet elbows bolts. This will require that the two lower SCAC bolts be removed. After removing the sensor shield ground lugs, install and tighten the SCAC bolts.2. Using the stainless steel hardware provided, bolt the two sensor shield ground lugs together. Insure that the unpainted side of the lugs are in contact with each other. This new bolted joint must be electrically isolated. Protect this joint with a high quality electrical tape and use the tie straps provided to secure it to the main harness.3. Install a jumper between terminals T272 and T273 in the engine mounted junction box. The 1210123 Bar Bridge Strip can be used for more than one engine.
