Left Side of Machine (1) Screed lift cylinderEach side of the machine is equipped with screed lift cylinder (1). The left screed lift cylinder is shown.Pressurized oil is directed into screed lift cylinders (1) under the following conditions: the screed is lifted, or the screed assist system is operating. The head ends of the screed lift cylinders are always open to the hydraulic tank. When the screed is being lowered, the rod ends of the screed lift cylinders are also open to the hydraulic tank. In this case, gravity forces the screed to the ground. The inlet port at the rod end of each screed lift cylinder contains an orifice. The orifice limits the rate at which the screed will lower. Right Side of Machine (2) Tow point cylinderEach side of the machine is equipped with tow point cylinder (2). The right tow point cylinder is shown.Each tow point cylinder (2) raises and lowers the respective tow point of each cylinder. When the tow point is changed, the angle of attack of the screed is changed. The tow point solenoids on the tow point manifold control the oil which flows to the tow point cylinders. When oil is directed into the head end of the tow point cylinder, the tow point lowers and the angle of attack decreases.
