The system uses one or two displays on pavers and up to four displays for cold planers. The system compares the measured position against a preset value. The system feeds the measured values back to the operator through the CD620 display. The system can also automatically drive the hydraulics to maintain the preset values.The Cat Grade and Slope is designed specifically for paving equipment and cold planers.For more information than what is listed in this section, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Getting Started".Conventional Guidance Methods
Depending on the sensors that are installed, the system supports the following conventional guidance methods:

Elevation guidance enables the operator to set the depth to maintain a constant height, relative to a reference elevation.Elevation Sensors
You can use the following sensors for elevation guidance:
A CS200 rotary contact sensor
An ST200 sonic ski sensor
A WR200 wire rope sensor (for Cold Planers only)
An averaging ski with one, two or three ST200 sonic sensors mounted on an averaging beam (for pavers only)
Three sensors for the "SAS" Sonic Averaging System mounted on front, center, and rear (for cold planers only)Elevation plus Elevation
Elevation plus elevation guidance provides independent grade guidance to each side of the machine. Each side would utilize a different grade reference.Cross Slope
Cross slope guidance enables you to set and maintain a constant slope, as viewed in the direction of travel of the machine.Cross slope guidance is useful for maintaining the slope of the roads.One side will be controlled manually and the other side will maintain the desired cross slope when in automatic mode.Cross Slope Sensors
The following sensors can be used for cross slope guidance:
An AS200 angle sensor (Paver only)
An AS450 angle sensor (Cold Planer only)Elevation plus Cross Slope
Elevation plus cross slope guidance enables you to set and maintain the height on one side and control the desired cross slope on the other side. Any of the elevation sensors can be used on the elevation side while the angle sensor will be utilized for the other side.
