The gussets near the centers of the channel assemblies have been redesigned. The new gussets (1) are shorter. The new shorter gussets will allow more clearance between the fan spider assembly and the channel assemblies. This will help prevent contact between the fan spider assembly and the channel assemblies.Adaptable To: The 180-6636 Channel As and the 180-6637 Channel As have been updated in the 184-6048 Radiator Support Gp. The updated parts are adaptable back to the beginning of production for the machines. The updated parts became effective in production with the machine JSM263-UP.The earlier channel assemblies can be adapted in order to increase the clearance between the fan spider assembly and the center mounting flange for the tank. Use the following procedure in order to update the earlier channel assemblies.

The fan spider assembly (2) and the center mounting flange for the tank (3) overlap at area (A). A nominal clearance (B) is between the fan spider assembly and the center mounting flange for the tank. Refer to Illustration 3. Mark the center mounting flange for the tank.

Remove the area that was marked on the center mounting flange for the tank. Do not cut the existing weld (4) or the gusset (5) .
Repeat the process on the right side of the radiator. Be sure to invert the markings on the center mounting flange for the tank.
