Make sure that there is metal to metal contact between the retainer and the hub before the bolts are tightened.
Make sure that there is metal to metal contact between the plate and the shaft before the bolts are tightened. Then make sure that the plate is flush with the carrier. Make sure that the gears can be rotated by hand. If the gears cannot be rotated by hand, guide the covers toward the carrier with the proper tooling.
1 1 440-4292 Duo-Cone Seal Gp(1) The rubber toric seals and all the contacting surfaces must be clean and dry at assembly. Before assembly, apply a thin film of oil to the contacting surfaces of the metal seal rings. The metal seal rings must be assembled square. The rubber toric seals should not bulge and the rubber toric seals should not twist.

8 1 7X-4777 Lip Type Seal Lubricate the sealing lip of the lip type seal with the lubricant that is being sealed.
Installation depth of the lip type seal (B) from the face of the retainer is 0.50 0.40 mm (0.019 0.016 inch).
