This Program must be administered as soon as possible.When reporting the repair, use "PI31744" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Codeand "T" as the SIMS Description code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI31744" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number,"96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the 07May2010 Service Letter. Changes have been made to Rework Procedure to specify drain plugs are not replaced.

PROBLEM
Accumulation of moisture and condensation can occur in existing electric fan motors on certain XQ2000, 3516C power modules. Under certain conditions moisture accumulation can lead to insulation damage and, in some cases, failure.

1. Drain and measure the quantity of water that may have accumulated in the motor.
2. Remove the remaining drain plug.
Refer to the attached Rework Procedure.
Do not replace drain plugs after removal. Drain holes should remain open.

The electric fan motor needs to be reworked on the products listed below. The existing electric fan motor on certain XQ2000, 3516C power modules can fail due to accumulation of moisture and condensation. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 07May2010 when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.

Rework Procedure
1. Locate the two drains on the bottom of the motor. Refer to Image 1.1.1. One drain is located in the Front end bell (1) the other is located in the Rear end bell (2) in Image 1.1.2.
Pictures with motor removed are provided for reference only. The procedure can be completed without removal of the motor from the radiator.

2. Place a container to collect water underneath the rear end bell. Use a screwdriver to remove the plastic plug
