START BY:a. remove crankshaft pulley and vibration damperb. remove oil pan1. Drain the hoist, converter and brake hydraulic tank. The capacity of the tank is 220 liter (58 gal.). 2. Disconnect elbow (1) at the torque converter oil cooler. 3. Fasten tooling (A) to the cylinder block oil pan flange.4. Install a 50 ton screw jack (2) under the mid point of tooling (A). 5. Remove the bolts and nuts that hold support (3) to frame (4).6. Raise the front of the engine with tooling (A) until engine support (3) is clear of frame (4).7. Remove engine support (3) from the trunnion. 8. Remove trunnion (5) from the timing gear cover. 9. Inspect resilient mount (6) which is part of trunnion (5).10. Remove resilient mount (6) from the adapter if it is worn or damaged.Install Engine Front Support And Trunnion
1. Be sure the surface for resilient mount (2) on adapter (1) is clean and free of nicks or burrs.2. Put adapter (1) in a hydraulic press so the adapter will be evenly supported when resilient mount (2) is pressed into place.3. Place resilient mount (2) on adapter (1) so the vertical centers are aligned. Dimension (X) must be 105.92 mm (4.170 in.). Recheck this alignment because incorrect alignment will result in resilient mount drainage.
Use tooling (A) to press only against steel ring (3) of the resilient mount. Do not press against any other part of the resilient mount because damage to the resilient mount will occur.
4. Place tool (A) on steel ring (3), and use a hydraulic press to install resilient mount (2) onto adapter (1). Install resilient mount (2) to dimension (Y). Dimension (Y) must be 25.4 mm to 27.4 mm (1.000 to 1.079 in.). 5. Install trunnion (4) to the timing gear cover.6. Install bracket (5). Use the two 4 1/2 in. long bolts to secure the bracket.7. Tighten the bolts for trunnion (4) and bracket (5) to a torque of 86 to 114 N m (65 to 85 lb.ft.). 8. Fasten support (6) to trunnion (4). Tighten the four bolts to a torque of 178 to 232 N m (130 to 170 lb.ft.).9. Use tool (13) to lower the front of the engine until support (6) contacts the frame. Install the bolts (7), nuts and washers. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 313 to 407 N m (230 to 300 lb.ft.).10. Remove tooling (B). 11. Be sure the mating surfaces of elbow (8) and the torque converter oil cooler are clean.12. Install a new O-ring seal in elbow (8), and fasten the elbow to the torque converter oil cooler.13.
