Improper handling can damage the ceramic seal. If the shaft is bumped during installation, the ceramic seal that is internal to the pump may crack leading to a coolant leak from the weep hole. During installation, be careful not to make hard contact to the shaft. Insert the pump completely during installation. Do not allow the shaft to support the weight of the pump during installation.

3 1 235-4541 Impeller Bore in the impeller for the shaft is 25.350 0.012 mm (0.9980 0.0005 inch).
A 1 428-8019 Pump Shaft Lubricate the shaft with a thin film of clean engine oil before pressing the impeller (3) onto the shaft. The end of the shaft must be flush with the face of the impeller within 0.00 to 0.30 mm (0.000 to 0.012 inch).
Diameter of the shaft to the impeller end is 25.400 to 25.410 mm (1.0000 to 1.0004 inch).
4 1 9S-8007 Plug Torque to 8 1 N m (71 9 lb in).
5 1 259-4596 O-Ring Seal Before assembly, lubricate the bore lightly with 5P-3975 Rubber Lubricant.
