Configuring the G407 Monitor Display to Hold a Static Flashing IP Address
With some managed switches on onboard haul trucks, an IP conflict with the G407 monitor display may exist. This conflict will cause a loss of packet communications on the display. Thus causing the GPS, payload, Remote Tools, and other systems to stop working. This loss is because the onboard managed switch will not allow the monitor display to hold a static address (for Cat® MineStar System) and a dynamically requested address (for service). These symptoms will usually manifest within an hour of rebooting the display while the truck is running. If you run into the situation, the G407 can be configured to request the service IP as a static address. Perform the following procedure following to set up the monitor display service address to be requested as a static IP:
Modify the topeconfig text file to set the service IP to 165.26.79.190. Do not make each truck hold a different IP as all traffic from this IP should be kept captive to the network of the truck.Note: If you set the IP to a different value than 165.26.79.190, flashing with Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) may not function.

Access the developer menu. This action can be done by including the toolbar icon in the topeconfig file ($ Tools XX =12) or by touching the pattern shown above. Refer to Illustration 1.

Navigate to "Options", "RPA Static IP...". Refer to Illustration 2.
Accept the "OK" button on the popup screen. Tope (Fleet Onboard) will restart. The service IP address has now been set to a static setting of 165.26.79.190.
The managed onboard switch will need to have settings changed to keep all traffic from this address onboard the truck. Each manufacturer of network hardware will set up in a different fashion. Contact your switch vendor if necessary. The example shown is a 3-DP Hornet. Note the programmed 165.26.79.190 address on the port that the monitor display is connected to.
Restart all onboard hardware to make sure that all changes have been applied.Service IP Address Conflict
The service address is used so that Cat ET can flash over Ethernet. At start-up, the display searches for a service address. The display will lock on an address once an address is identified as not in use. After it has identified and assigned an address, another unit may be identified with the same service address. This creates a conflict, and an error message is generated. The error message is from the OS and must be acknowledged or the display power cycled to clear. To reduce the possibility of message being cleared manually, a monitoring app has been introduced to close the warning message automatically, eliminating the need for the operator to intervene. This app constantly looks for the popup to appear and will close the message up to the number of configured times. This is configured in the "StartupScript.bat" file and includes the line "start \Storage\NetMon.exe /c:10" where 10 is the number of times that
