Release the "E-Stop". Turn the Engine Control Switch to the OFF/RESET position. The shutdown relay should de-energize.
Manually reset the air shutoff.
The engine should start.Test for Shutdowns
The test will check all of the shutdowns in order to ensure that the engine will shut off when a shutdown is active. The following procedure will simulate the shutdowns for the system. The engine should shut off for each shutdown.
Start the engine.
Run the engine at a RPM that is greater than the RPM of the oil step.Note: A signal generator can be used in order to simulate a running engine. See Testing and Adjusting, RENR5851, "Setpoint - Check" for more information.
Jumper the terminals in Table 1 for one of the shutdowns that has not been tested. The engine should shut down.Note: If the system is equipped with an annunciator, check the indicator for the active shutdown. The indicator should be illuminated.
After the engine shuts down, place the engine control switch in the OFF/RESET position.
If the system is equipped with an annunciator, actuate the acknowledged switch and depress the reset push button.
Manually reset the air shutoff.
Place the engine control switch in the LOCAL position.
Restart from Step 1 until all of the shutdowns have been tested.

( 3 ) Place a check after the test when the test is completed.
( 1 ) See Testing and Adjusting, "Overspeed Verification Test".
( 2 ) The shutdown is not used on minimal systems.Test for Alarms
The test will check all of the alarms in order to ensure that the alarm circuit will energize. The following procedure will simulate the alarms for the system.
Start the engine.
Run the engine at a RPM that is greater than the RPM of the oil step.Note: A signal generator can be used in order to simulate a running engine. See Testing and Adjusting, RENR5851, "Setpoint - Check" for more information.
