Information:
: MAKE SURE PERSONNEL ARE CLEAR FROM THE MACHINE
Turn the disconnect switch and key switch to ON and start the machine. Go to high idle.
Connect to the ET and verify that the diagnostic code is still active.
Set the machine speed to 0.1 on CIC.
Release the parking brake and move the lever to the forward Position. Increase speed unil both tracks are moving.
In ET, check to see if the speed and direction parameters are non-zero and the diagnostic code has been cleared..Note: A LEVEL 3 ALARM WILL BE SOUNDING WHEN THE LEVER IS IN FORWARD OR REVERSE DUE TO EID 0695.Expected Result:The speed and direction is non-zero and the diagnostic code has been cleared. Results:
OK - The speed and direction of the track are non-zero and the diagnostic code has been cleared.Repair: Stop the machine and shut down. The problem is most likely due to an intermittent open circuit in the machine harness. Check the connection and harness. Repair the harness or replace the harness. Repeat this test after the repair is completed.STOP
NOT OK - The tracks have moved and the diagnostic code is still active. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK FOR POWER AT THE SENSOR.
Do not disconnect the harness connector from the sensor.
At the back of the harness connector for the sensor, insert a multimeter probe along contact 1 (wire 497-BU) for the voltage supply.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage from contact 1 (wire 497-BU) to contact 2 (wire J766-PU).Expected Result:The voltage is 8 0.5 DCV.Results:
OK - The voltage is 8 0.5 DCV. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The voltage is not 8 0.5 DCV. There is a problem with this circuit.Repair: Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness and check to see if diagnostic is cleared according to the previous Test Step, "CLEARING THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE PROCEDURE".STOPTest Step 3. CHECK FOR AN OPEN CIRCUIT ON THE SIGNAL CIRCUITS.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Remove the connector from the speed sensor and place a jumper between pins 3 and 4.
Disconnect J1 and J2 from the ECM and then measure the continuity between pins J2-42 (wire 769-BU) and J2-43 (wire 835-PU).Expected Result:The resistance between pins J2-42 and J2-43 is less than 5 ohms. Results:
OK - The resistance between pins 3 and 4 is less than 5 ohms. Proceed to Test Step 4.
NOT OK - The resistance between pins 3 and 4 is greater than 5 ohms. There is an open circuit in one of the signal wires on the machine harness. The open is either in wire (769-BU) or wire (835-PU).Repair: Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. After the repair, check to see if diagnostic is cleared according to the previous Test Step, "CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODE PROCEDURE".STOPTest Step 4. CHECK FOR A SHORT ON THE SIGNAL CIRCUITS.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Remove the jumper wire
